    Good Afternoon,

I recently submitted for our NARO membership (including the NARO-Texas chapter). I've also noted the upcoming Texas conference, coming up in June 2012.

My husband and I were discussing the benefits of membership, given that our portfolio of royalties owned is not of significant size. From my perspective, I believe the membership beneficial no matter our size of ownership.

Since our land (and royalty ownership) is on Texas, I am interested in the upcoming conference. Again, not knowing if attendance would be beneficial.

Am interested in receiving other members' feedback on both membership and conference attendance - of small-time royalty owners.

    Thank you in advance!

    Linda:

Most people link a conference with only the presentations and this is not the case.  You will gain as much information from the attendees since you will meet people who own in your general area.  It can save alot of time and guessing when one can make a phone call asking what's taking place in, for example Brazoria County.  Or, I received a lease offer from X, is it a reasonable offer and are they a good company to deal with?  The prime objective of NARO is education and you will find many willing to share.

Could you tell me when the details for the Texas Convention in San Antonio are going to be available?  I would like to make plans to attend, yet all I can find out are the dates June 13 -15.  More information would be greatly appreciated.

There is a link to the registration brochure on the NARO-TX page, which you can print and mail in, or you can contact the NARO main office (800) 558-0557 and register over the phone.  For hotel, call Embassy Suites at (210) 226-9000 and ask for the NARO-TX rate of $145.

Will there be a good opportunity for royalty owners seeking to lease their rights to meet with operators at the San Antonio conference? I'm especially interested in meeting operators interested in exploring the Eagle Ford and Pearsall Shales. What materials are most appropriate to bring?

Thank in advance for any help.

    Paula:

The industry exhibitors are normally members of the division order departments vs. the land department.  I doubt you will have the opportunity to do lease work, but the company representatives can provide names and numbers of their land department staffs.

We have all the indicators this my be one of our highest attended conferences.  The Embassy Suites sold out a couple of weeks ago and I've recently spoken with a number of people with reservations is the second hotel.  We have a great slate of speakers and I hope to see you in San Antonio.
