  • A special 3.5 hour course on the basics in managing your minerals. Normally this is covered in a fast paced 45 minute presentation. Now you have much more time to learn, ask questions and hear from experts in mineral management. This does not include registration for any of the other activities or events.

Foundations of Mineral Ownership

About the Class

Foundations of Mineral Ownership is a beginner-friendly course designed for those who are new to minerals or looking to build a strong foundation in mineral management. Led by community leaders from your local chapter, this 3-hour educational session is followed by a 30-minute Q&A and takes place just before the convention begins.

What You’ll Learn
  • Basic property law
  • General order of events in mineral ownership (leasing, drilling, production, division orders, revenues)
  • Basic explanation of oil and gas operations
  • Types of ownership
  • Decimal / NRI calculations
  • Data management
Important Information

NARO members who are not currently enrolled in the Mineral Management Program (MMP) may attend this class after paying the class fee. This fee covers only this class and is separate from the NARO East Convention registration or Mineral Management Program fees.

Additional Information
  • Eligible Mineral Management Program participants will earn 3.5 NARO credit hours for attending this class.
  • A minimum of 5 registered attendees two weeks prior to the class date is required. If that minimum is not met, registrants will be contacted and all class fees will be refunded.
